Mani: 'Ian Brown Is Stopping Possible Stone Roses Reunion'

July 15, 2008
Mani: 'Ian Brown Is Stopping Possible Stone Roses Reunion'Former Stones Roses bassist Mani has said that the band would “probably” reform if frontman Ian Brown decided to return to the project.

The bassist, who now plays with Primal Scream, told the BBC that the other members of the group had all expressed an interest in reuniting.

“I spoke to John [Squire, guitarist] and Reni [drummer] about it a few years ago and they said they'd love to do it at some point in time, but Ian Brown seems dead set against it,” he said.

Despite saying the band wasn't “something that's uppermost in my mind” he didn't rule out a temporary return to the Stone Roses.

“People will always be interested but you should ask Ian Brown about that one.

“If he changes his mind then we'll probably do it, but then I'll be back to Primal Scream after the one year of doing it,” he said.

The Stone Roses split in the 1990s after just two full studio releases.
