Josh Freese: 'I'm Leaving Nine Inch Nails To Have Baby'

December 9, 2008
Josh Freese: 'I'm Leaving Nine Inch Nails To Have Baby'Drummer Josh Freese has revealed he is leaving Nine Inch Nails because he is expecting his third child in the New Year.

Speculation over the reason behind Freese's departure has been rife since frontman Trent Reznor confirmed in September that Nine Inch Nails' current US tour would be the drummer's last.

In a statement, Freese told Blabbermouth: “Not that it's THAT big of a deal or important compared to other real shit going on out there in the world, but I figured I'd take a minute out to explain anyhow.

“I know a few people are aware that I'm having my third child in January and basically... that about SUMS IT UP!”

Freese said he was unnable to commit long term to the band's touring plans and needed to “be home a bit more” in 2009.

"If you saw a NIN show in the past three years then you'll know that to say I LIKE playing up there is an understatement and that I give it my all every night,” he added.

Freese also paid tribute to Reznor, saying he feels “fortunate and privileged to have had the chance to work alongside of him and be a part of what he does for the past three years."

As previously reported, Lostprophets' Ilan Rubin will replace Freese as Nine Inch Nails' new drummer.
