In a new documentary, the singer - a devout Roman Catholic - said she was still surprised when she sees the size of the audience at her gigs.

"I look out into that crowd and I'm like, 'When the f*ck did this happen?' How did this happen? Who created this?" she said.

"Because I didn't create this, I for sure didn't. It's God. It's for sure Jesus, it ain't me, because I'm not ridiculous enough to think for a second that I'm that powerful."

The documentary, Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden , also sees the singer break down in tears when discussing how she still felt like “a loser kid in high school”.

It will air on May 7 on HBO.
