Nirvana Stars 'Dismayed and Disappointed' By Kurt Cobain's Use On Guitar Hero 5

September 11, 2009
Nirvana Stars 'Dismayed and Disappointed' By Kurt Cobain's Use On Guitar Hero 5Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have released a joint statement saying they are “dismayed and very disappointed” with how Kurt Cobain is abused on Guitar Hero 5.

The music legend's Nirvana bandmates strongly disagree with the fact that Cobain's character can be used to play on any of the 85 tracks on the game.

Disconcertingly, Cobain can play along to such songs as 'In My Place' by Coldplay, 'You Give Love A Bad Name' by Bon Jovi and 'Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting' by Elton John.

Grohl and Novoselic's statement reads: “While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character," said Novoselic and Grohl.

"This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right thing in 're-locking' Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future.”

Cobain's widow Courtney Love has reacted angrily and has threatened to sue game makers Activision claiming she never signed off the game.

In a typically garbled post on Twitter, she wrote: “This trust are my employees, but what they are tryong [sic] to do is sickening, and they need to be fired, and repairations [sic] need made."
