Prince Says Childhood Epilepsy Was Cured By Angels

April 29, 2009
Prince Says Childhood Epilepsy Was Cured By AngelsPrince has revealed that he suffered from epilepsy as a youngster and claimed that his seizures were cured angels.

The singer spoke candidly about the condition for the first time during an appearance on a US chat show.

When asked about ‘Dreamer’, a song from his new album, Prince replied: "I've never spoken about this before, but I was born epileptic and I used to have seizures when I was young.

“And my mother and father didn't know what to do or how to handle it, but they did the best they could with what little they had."

"One day I walked in to her and said, 'Mom, I'm not going to be sick anymore,' and she said, 'Why?', and I said, 'Because an angel told me so.'"

The musician also revealed that he taught himself how to play music in a bid to be as good as his father.

"I went into [my]self and I taught myself music,” Prince said.

“My father left his piano at the house when he left, and I wasn't allowed to play it when he was there because I wasn't as good as him.

“So when he left I was determined to get as good as him, and I taught myself how to play music."

As previously reported, Prince released his new three-disc CD album last month.

The package included two new Prince albums, 'LOtUSFLOW3R' and 'MPLSoUND', and a studio effort from his protégé Bria Valente.
