The Stone Roses 'To Reform For Summer Tour'

March 17, 2009
The Stone Roses 'To Reform For Summer Tour'The Stone Roses have agreed to reform for a series of summer dates, it's been reported.

The band will play a reported twenty-one UK concerts to mark the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.

There is also speculation the Manchester four piece, who split in the mid-90s, could play a major US music festival.

According to The Daily Mirror newspaper, singer Ian Brown has given the green light for the reformation despite his tense relationship with guitarist Jon Squire.

An unnamed source told the newspaper: “It's taken a lot of time and effort to get Ian to agree, but he's really up for it.

"He was the sticking point throughout the proceedings, but he's finally relented and signed on the dotted line. There's been a lot of speculation in the past, but this is the real deal.

"The rest of the band were really up for it, especially when they realised the amount of money on the table.

"But Ian has forged a really successful solo career and wasn't very receptive to their plans. It's taken a while, but he's finally come around to the notion."

In December, bassist Mani said he, Squire and drummer Reni were all keen to reform, but added that Brown “just needs some working on”.

Since splitting, Brown has established himself as a solo performer, while Squire has concentrated on his work as an artist.
