Bono: 'U2 Are Delighted and Humbled To Play Glastonbury Festival'

December 1, 2009
Bono: 'U2 Are Delighted and Humbled To Play Glastonbury Festival'Bono says that U2 are “delighted and humbled” to finally headline Glastonbury Festival.

The 49-year-old singer was speaking to the BBC at the launch of the Lace Up. Save Lives campaign in London yesterday, an anti AIDs/HIV charity featuring a partnership between Nike and the (RED) brand.

Bono said of U2's Glastonbury slot on Friday June 25th "Everyone in the band is very excited about it," before adding the show won't be political on the day.

"I think it will just be about the music on that day, and that spirit that seems to take over everybody in that sacred ground.

"We'll certainly be well-rehearsed, we'll be coming straight from the tour," he added.

Muse, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead are just some of the acts rumoured to be joining U2 at the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury.
