U2 To Headline Friday Night Of Glastonbury Festival 2010

November 23, 2009
U2 To Headline Friday Night Of Glastonbury Festival 2010U2 are set to headline the opening night of Glastonbury 2010, it's been confirmed.

The rock veterans have never played the festival before but in recent years have been high on Michael Eavis' wish list. Now it seems the farmer's dream has become reality.

Marking the Worthy Farm festival's 40th anniversary, U2 will play the Friday night on June 25th with two more big names to be announced.

A source told The Sun: "Everyone is over the moon that the deal has been done.

"Michael really wanted a huge name for the 40th anniversary and the fact U2 have never played Glastonbury in their 32-year career only adds to the mystique.

"In fact Eavis has been asking them for a while now and really stepped up the effort this year. This could be an iconic moment."

Michael Eavis has already promised big acts for 2010, saying: "The expectations are really high and we're trying to get the best headliners in the world."

Also in the rumour mill are Radiohead, Muse, David Bowie, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin.
