U2's Spider-Man Musical Still Expected To Open In 2010

November 9, 2009
U2's Spider-Man Musical Still Expected To Open In 2010The musical adaption of Spider-Man, which includes music by U2, is still expected to open in 2010 despite funding fears.

Producers and financial supporters met on Friday and are understood to have secured full financial backing for the project.

The big-budget production had been due to open next February at the Hilton Theater in New York City.

But work on the musical was halted earlier this year in order to control cash flow issues, reports Variety.

It is now thought that the musical won't open until at least next April.

Meanwhile, Reeve Carney, star of forthcoming movie The Tempest, has been cast as lead character Peter Parker.

He joins a cast which already includes Alan Cumming and Evan Rachel Wood.

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark includes lyrics and music written by U2 singer Bono and guitarist The Edge.

The pair recently revealed that they hoped their songs would be released on an accompanying album.
