Radiohead: 'It's Hard To Know How Important The Grammys Are'

February 9, 2009
Radiohead: 'It's Hard To Know How Important The Grammys Are'Radiohead multi-instrumentalist Jonny Greenwood has admitted the band are unsure about how important the Grammy Awards really are.

The Oxford band picked up two awards at Sunday night's ceremony - best alternative album for 'In Rainbows' and best boxed or special limited edition package for the discbox – but despite this acclaim, Greenwood admits he's bemused by it all.

Speaking to Associated Press ahead of the ceremony yesterday, Greenwood joked: "I'm confused, because whenever I watch The Simpsons, they're very rude about the Grammys. It's hard to know how important they are!"

Asked whether their performance with the USC Marching Band may give the band increased exposure, Greenwood remarked: "It's a big paradox for us. We're sort of ambitious, but maybe not ambitious enough.

"You hear some bands saying they want to be the biggest they want to be the greatest. We do and we don't.

"We don't and then we see other bands doing really well, and then we say, 'We should be doing some of that, we should be a little bit like that'."
