If I was a raindrop I would be fallin'
I would be fallin' by now
If I was a rocket I would be flyin'
I would be flyin' by now
If I was a wise man I would be doin'
What I should be doin' by now

[Chorus]
'Cause you're like a new key made with the wrong cut
Stuck tryin' to break into my home
You're like a bottle sent with a message
But you're sinkin' like a stone
If I had your name
I'd be changin' it right now

If I was a blanket I would be foldin'
I would be foldin' by now
If I was a fast train I would be speedin'
Smokin' and steamin' with a hell of a sound
If I was a gambler I'd go for the quick win
I'd cash all my chips in and get outta town

[Repeat Chorus]

[Repeat Chorus]

. . .

I know a girl she was a waitress
Had a big spirit 'til she let her boyfriend break it
He always talked her down, he took her pride and kicked it 'round
Yeah, took it as long as she could take it
She left a note on the dresser and hung up her apron

[Chorus]
Cry, cry 'til the sun shines baby
Cry, cry 'til the sun shines
It's gonna be alright, it's gonna be alright, baby

I know a man who tried to ease his mind
Chase his regrets with any bottle he could find
Life cut him down so low, it took his pride and broke his soul, yeah
'Til he forgave himself and let it go

[Repeat Chorus]

We're all here just tryin' to live our lives
Payin' our electric bills and spendin' up our time
When there ain't a friend to be found
You can't break through the concrete clouds
When the rain, when the rain comes crashin' down

[Repeat Chorus]

. . .

No love can survive for long like this
When you're standing' on a bridge that's always burnin'
Maybe it's just time to walk away
If you're tryin' to find a reason
Tryin' to find a reason to stay

I don't know how long this pain will last
All I know is it can't go on forever
Isn't this just pointless anyway
If you're tryin' to find a reason to stay

It's hard to admit it what we know inside
We've tried everything, everything but goodbye
Say goodbye

If your heart has nothin' left to give
If your world feels like it's just stopped turnin'
Maybe that says all there is to say
If you're tryin' to find a reason to stay

It's hard to admit it what we know inside
We've tried everything, everything but goodbye

Maybe it's just time to walk away
If you're tryin' to find a reason
Tryin' to find a reason to stay
Baby it's just time to walk away
If you're tryin' to find a reason to stay

In these times in which we live
Where the worst of what we live
Is laid out for all the world on the front page
And the sound of someone's heartbreak
Is a soundbite at the news break
With a close shot of the tears rollin' down their face
Blessed be the child who turns a loving eye
And stops to pray
For these times in which we live

In these most uncertain hours
Where the balance of power
Is a fight that is fought every day
And freedom is a word
Some cry out and some whisper
And some are just too quick to give away
Blessed be the one who stands by the one
On the battle line
For these times in which we live

Well give me a heart full of tender mercy
And arms I will open wide

For these times in which we live
Seems like the only answer is
Givin' up on findin' one at all
And we hide behind unsure
Pull the blinds and lock the doors
And hang a pleasant picture on the wall
Blessed is the believer who knows love is our redeemer
And the only breath of life
For these times in which we live

Well give me a heart full of tender mercy
And arms I will open wide
Yeah give me words full of loving kindness
And hands ready to hold up a light
For these times in which we live
For these times in which we live

. . .

You can spend your whole life buildin'
Something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You could chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway

This worlds gone crazy
And it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all you heart
For all the right reasons
And in a momemt they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway

God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
Yeah I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singin'
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah sing it anyway

I sing
I dream
I love anyway

. . .

Confetti fallin' from the sky
My hometown on the 4th of July
A midnight snow on Christmas Eve
Like standin' up for what you believe

[Chorus]
That's how I feel when I'm with you
That's how I feel when I'm with you
That's how I feel
That's how I feel when I'm with you

Your lucky coat, the first day of fall
When you wake up laughin' just because
An old church door that stays wide open
A perfect heart that's never been broken

[Repeat Chorus]

That's how I feel when I'm with you
Every day there's something new
To cry about, to laugh about
Those moments I can't live without
That's how I feel
That's how I feel
When I'm with you

. . .

Woke up in the middle of the night and saw you sleepin'
I was hopin' you were dreamin' about me
Kissed your cheek and said "I love you"
You reached for me and then you mumbled
"I love you too, is everything ok?"

I said I'm fine baby, go back to sleep
I've just been thinkin' life is changin' 'round us
And I hope you believe

I'll still be me
Just a normal girl from small town nowhere
I'll still hold your hand and wear this ring
I'll still be me
If you can count on one thing, I'll be here
The same girl that you've known for centuries
I'll still be me

We said we wanted all of this
We made the plans together
And promised that we'd never forget
Drinkin' apple wine in our first kitchen
Throwin' pennies in the well and wishin'
We'd spend our lives forever holdin' hands

And here we are still holdin' on
But if all the pretty things tied up in bows were gone

I'll still be me
Just a normal girl from small town nowhere
I'll still laugh at your jokes and argue over silly things
I'll still be me
If you can count on one thing, I'll be here
The same girl that you've known for centuries
I'll still be me

Empires could rise and fall
The sun could swallow the moon
And I don't hold a crystal ball
But I promise you

I'll still be me
Just a normal girl from small town nowhere
I'll still be the mommy of our babies
I'll still be me
If you can count on one thing, I'll be here
The same girl that you've known for centuries
I'll still be me

She was only ten when her daddy got fired
He drank away the family home and left them all alone
And then her mommy was just too tired
So she got sent away

She moved in with her aunt in Arizona
Everything was fine until she told on Uncle Bill
When he said he only wanted to hold her
She had to run away

[Chorus]
But when it rains, the past gets washed away, and then
She smiles 'cause she knows in the end
The world gets beautiful, beautiful again

Her boyfriend said I'm way too young to get married
But she made up her mind that somehow she was gonna
Find a way to keep that baby she carried
And he just walked away

[Repeat Chorus]

And when she's lying all alone
Thinkin' about her life she wonders
If she is wrong to believe in a better world
Then she sees her little girl
And she knows she is right 'cause

[Repeat Chorus]

. . .

This ain't the first time you've fallen in love
With your heart wide open
Feeling just like a fool knowing that
You're the only one left holding on
He broke your heart
You can't cry hard enough
But you're not the only one

[Chorus]
Everybody loves someone
Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody says they'll never fall again
But everybody does
Yeah, everybody does

How many times have you said he's the one
And found out that he wasn't
Always thinking it's gonna hurt forever
But then one day it doesn't anymore
You've come so far
Still a long way to go
Just remember you're never alone

[Repeat Chorus]

Everybody jumps in
Never really knowin'
Where it's really goin'
You just have to trust in
Your heart, oh yeah

[Repeat Chorus]

. . .

He says, "I'm just a man, I work with my hands
But lately no work has been around
I wish that I could put more on the table
Provide the life I'm sure my family dreams about"

[Chorus]
"But there's cracks in all the walls and all the windows
And the flies, they find their way in through the screen
I just pray that hope will go on living
In this house of a thousand dreams"

She says, "my husband's a good man
Gives all that he can
I know he thinks he's let me down
I just want him and the children to be happy
It's not always easy, but it's all I dream about"

"So I'll find some yard-sale curtains for the windows
And I'll sew some yellow trim along the seams
And I'll keep praying hope will go on living
In this house of a thousand dreams"

The boy says, "my daddy's a strong man
My momma, she loves him
And they love my brother and sister and me
Sometimes at night we lay out in the backyard
And take turns wishing on the first star we see"

"And the crickets always sing outside the windows
And I love to feel the wind blow through the screen
And I sure hope that we can live forever
In this house of a thousand dreams"

"Yeah I sure hope that we can live forever
In this house of a thousand dreams"

Wasn't wearing a wedding dress in a Vegas wedding chapel
They were herding us in and out of there like we were cattle
Not exactly the fairy tale that I had planned
But mama said aren't you supposed to get married girl
Before you bring a baby in this world
And what could I say but yes ma'am

And I called her from that chapel in Love Land
I said I really love this man
Love Land

Seemed like a lifetime driving from Vegas to Oklahoma
If you're allowed a number of mistakes in life maybe I've filled my quota
They called it a reception saying we did the right thing
And they smiled their broken smiles
Said who needs to walk down the aisle
And I showed off my wedding ring

And we walked away hand in hand to Love Land
Oh how I love this man
Love Land

Amazing all the progress we've made since the days of Thomas Edison
Still only God gives life in spite of modern medicine
Doctor's voices whispered we did all that we could do
But your baby wasn't strong enough
To make it the whole nine months
And as my world broke in two
He said I'll carry you through to Love Land

For the longest time I blamed myself
Thought I was paying for my mistakes
But we tried again
Now we're watchin' him blow three candles out
He's daddy's little man
And only God could have planned
The steps I've taken
That led me to where I am
Love Land

Anywhere you hold my hand
Is Love Land
