You Turn the Light On

[No lyrics]

. . .

All my life was a paper
What's plain, pure and white
Till the balance was right
Till you moved with your pen
Changing mood now and then
Then you added some music
Every note was in place
And anybody could see
All the changes in me
By the look on my face
And you decorated my life
Created a world where dreams are apart
And you decorated my life
By painting your love all over my heart

You decorated my life
Like a rhyme with no reason
And an unfinished song
There was no harmony
Life meant nothing to me
Until you came along
Then you came along
Then you brought out the colors
What a gentle surprise
How I'm able to see all the things life can be

Tulsa Turnaround

I want to make you smile

When I run too fast, slow me down
When I run to far, turn me around
Sometimes life becomes an endless waste
Sometimes love can't stand the lonely pace.

Each day goes by much too fast
Tomorrow soon becomes the past
Lost in struggle I'm making my way
Not taking time enough to simply say:

I love you, forgive me
I know it's been a while
I love you, I wanna stop the world
And make you smile.

Too many days I forgot to take your time
To say I love you and thank you for being mine
Those simple words I sometimes forget to say
We'll be on my lips at the wake of each new day.

I love you ...

But you know I love you
I wanna stop the world and make you smile
If it's not too late to make you smile.

Santiago Midnight Moonlight

[No lyrics]

. . .

She's got dinner on the table at seven
The kids are tucked in bed by nine-fifteen
And she's headed for a hotel at eleven
To meet a man her family's never seen.

As the elevator takes her to her lover
She thinks about his wife at home asleep
And she knows it must be painful to discover
That the man you love's not always yours to keep.

Well, she's one man's bride
And she's one man's on the side
She wonders why it takes two men
To keep her satisfied.

She's a hard workin' house-wife
Right now she's occupied
She's one man's woman
And one man's on the side
Yes, she's one man's woman
And one man's on the side.

She thinks about her husband when it's over
But she justifies her love affair somehow
She knows it can't go on like this forever
But she takes it all from day to day for now.

. . .

If my heart's not too late
For a piece of your time
There's been so many days
Since your eyes looked at mine

In the dark of this room
Where the burning has grown
You believe in your love
When you're lost and alone

And life don't give no reasons
When the love goes away
No answers for someone like you

Hold me, hold me
Seems like we never get together anymore
Hold me, hold me
Starry nights don't come enough
That's what we come here for, hold me

I will lay by your side
I can warm your cold nights
You can play in my dreams
Till I'm out of your sight in the morning, my love

Couldn't change where you go
You were always my woman
It's the one truth I know
So hold out when there's no chance
For your love anyway
No diamond could shine close to you

Hold me, hold me
Seems like we never get together anymore
Hold me, hold me
Starry nights don't come enough
That's what we came here for, hold me

Old Folks

[No lyrics]

Everyone considered him
The coward of the county
It never stool one single time
To prove the county's
His mama named him Tommy
The folks just called him Yellow
Something always told me
They were reading Tommy's wrong
He was only ten years old
When his daddy died in prison
I looked after Tommy
Because he's my brother's son
I still recalled the final words
My brother said to Tommy,
"Son, my life was over,
But yours just begun.
Promised me son,
Not to do the things I've done,
Walked away form troubles if you can
It won't mean your weak
If you turned the other cheek
I hope you're old enough to understand
Son you don't have to fight to be a man
There's someone for everyone."

And Tommy's love was working
The gambling boys came calling
They took turns of Veckie
And there was three of them
Tommy opened up the door
Saw his Veckie crying
The torn dress, the shattered look
Is more than he could stand
He reached above the fire place
And took down his daddy's face
He heard these words again
Promised me son
Not to do the things I've done,
Walked away form troubles if you can
It won't mean your weak
If you turned the other cheek
I hope you're old enough to understand
Son you don't have to fight to be a man
The gambling boys just laughed at him
When he walked into the barroom
One of them got up
And meet him halfway cross the floor
When Tommy turn around
They said,
Hey look old Yellow's leaving
But you could have heard a pin drop
When Tommy stop and lock the door
The bottle up inside him
He let them have it all
He wouldn't hold nothing back
He let them have it all
When Tommy left the barroom
Not a gambling boy was standing
He said this one's for Veckie
As he watched the last one fall
I heard him say
I promised you dad
Not to do the things you've done,
I walked away form troubles when I can
Now please don't think I'm weak
I didn't turn the other cheek
And papa I surely hope you understand
Sometimes you got to fight when you're a man
Everyone considered him
