Eminem is set to star in a new crime thriller called Random Acts Of Violence, a US trade magazine reports.

The Hollywood Reporter says the 20th Century Fox production has been in development for more than four years.

The plot follows an ex-con’s battle to remain law-abiding, while also being recruited to work as an informant for the FBI.

Writer-director David Von Ancken is being lined up to direct the movie.

Random Acts Of Violence would mark Eminem’s first return to the big screen since his starring role in 2002’s '8 Mile'.

Last month, Eminem was also linked to the forthcoming movie Southpaw.
