George Michael Issues Apology To Fans After Drugs Arrest

September 22, 2008
George Michael Issues Apology To Fans After Drugs ArrestGeorge Michael has issued an apology to his fans after his drugs arrest at the weekend, admitting he has “screwed up again.”

The multi-millionaire pop star was given a caution by police for possession of a Class A and Class C drug – thought to be crack cocaine and marijuana – in the Hampstead Heath area if London.

The 45-year-old singer said yesterday: "I want to apologise to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I'll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them."

Since the news of the caution, the action taken against Michael has been called into question. Asked why Michael had only been given a caution, Home Office Minister Tony McNulty said he didn't know the details of the case to comment.

He told the BBC: "The biggest message is that drugs are wrong and people will be punished, but it must be right that there is flexibility in the law."

In May of last year, Michael was handed a two year driving ban after pleading guilty in court to driving under the influence of drugs. He has openly admitted in interviews that he smokes marijuana.
