Slayer is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981. The band was founded by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame with their 1986 release, "Reign in Blood", and is credited as one of the "Big Four" thrash metal acts, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.

Slayer Guitarist Jeff Hanneman has contracted a flesh eating disease that has caused him to pull out of the band's upcoming tour. Hanneman is believed to have caught necrotizing fasciitis from a spider bite. The disease is rare and destroys skin, fat and tissue from below the surface of the body. Read more

Slayer have rescheduled their twice-postponed UK tour dates for May and June. The heavy metal titans postponed the dates both last November and this March due to bassist/vocalist Tom Araya's ongoing back problems. Read more
