by Syd Barret

On a distant shore, miles from land
stands the ebony totem in ebony sand
a dream in a mist of grey...
on a far distant shore...
The pebble that stood alone
and driftwood lies half buried
warm shallow waters sweep shells
so the cockles shine...

A bare winding carcase, stark
shimmers as flies scoop up meat, an empty way...
dry tears...
crisp black squeaks tore reeds
make a circle of grey in a summer way, around man
so don't ground...

I'm trying
I'm trying to find you!
To find you
I'm living, I'm giving,
To find you, To find you,
I'm living, I'm living,

. . .

So you think I need a friend
That's not the way it is
You never really understand
Still sitting by your side
Watching every move
There never really was a chance
Standing here alone
You're not here
My eyes are open wide
'Cause you must be there
Don't loose the love you feel in your heart
But that's just the way it is
With every move you make you're closer to the end
That's just the way it has to go....
Your massage came from far
A crimson moon it lights the sky
The nightland creatures see your fall
No one here to lead my way
And she still calls out with her mind

Forgive Me / Part 1

[No lyrics]

. . .

Silent tears are streaming down
Gather to forbidden streams
The shifting clouds flowing entangled
Shadows edge the scenery
Thoughts collide with chained emotions
Seems like they were born again
The last glow of my dying senses
Erupted from the end of all our dreams
The gentle art of swimming
Swimming through our live
Through worlds of every colours
Screaming their delight
Passing through a sudden silence
Single echoes died away
Seas of light in three dimensions
Climbing through the atmosphere
Followed by my cosmic ego
Childhood pictures blurred by time
Every point of my emotion

. . .

We both know we dreamed our live away
We both thought that we'd be back someday
But now you're out of my reach
Not the slightest trace of you
We thought we'll always win
But now we loose

Who do you think we are
There's nothing left
But the shades of our past
Someday, somehow
I guess the chase is over
Let's stop for a while
And dream again

We both know the sun will rise again
We both thought that it'd never end
But somewhere deep inside
Live has got a bitter taste

. . .

Going Outside

[No lyrics]

. . .

Outside
Drilling tunnels in the rain
Sometimes
Not even thinking of your pain
My face shield slips again
The light shines through into my brain
But the screaming not hurting yet
Sun, sun in the sky
High time
I try to fight against the wave
Sunflakes
Starting to settle on my brain, again
The universe of silent light induced insanity
But your screaming not hurting yet

. . .

Before you closed the door
You looked up to the sky
"Next time let's make a brand new start" you said
But now it's to late to tell you what I feel

. . .

Like a teardrop in the desert
A soldier shut down in war
Who'll tell me how things fit together
Where do I belong
It was a cold november morning
The outlook has never been so grey
It was so easy to talk about
And so funny to see you this way
So please forgive me like you always did before
You waited such a long time
That I'd come along

. . .
