Joan Wasser (born July 26, 1970, in Biddeford, Maine) is a violinist and singer/songwriter in the indie rock world. In June 2002 she formed new trio Joan as Police Woman, with Ben Perowsky on drums, percussion and backing vocals; Rainy Orteca on bass and backing vocals; and songwriter/vocalist Joan Wasser on violin, keyboard, and guitar. Other musicians working with the group have included Maxim Moston and Charlie Burnham. Group has released three albums, the 2006 "Real Life", the 2008 "To Survive" and the 2011 "The Deep Field".
