Damon Albarn Rules Out More Blur Gigs

July 27, 2009
Damon Albarn Rules Out More Blur GigsDamon Albarn has dismissed any chance of further Blur gigs following their reunion shows which culminated in a much-lauded Glastonbury headline show.

The news comes following bass player Alex James's statement last week that the band would not be “doing anything else whatsoever”.

The 41-year old who is reported to be working on the third album with his Gorrilaz side project, told Q magazine “I just can't do it any more” before going to say that if the Blur continued “the cynicism” would return.

“The same problems would rear their ugly head because of the status quo of the band”, he stated effectively eliminating any potential chance of a new Blur recording being produced.

Since their original hiatus in 2003 the other members of Blur have gone onto various projects; drummer Dave Rowntree went into politics, bassist Alex James into farming and Graham Coxon launched a successful solo career.
