Amici Forever
"Nessun Dorma"

from Turandot by Giacomo Puccini

Meaning "none shall sleep," Amici forever features this well-known
aria-perhaps the most famous of all tenor arias-in five-part harmony. Exiled
Prince Calaf has won the right to take the proud and untouchable Princess
Turandot as his wife by solving three riddles. Later, the Prince offers Turandot
a way out of her obligation by declaring that if any person in the kingdom can
discover his name before dawn he will surrender to the executioner. Although
"none shall sleep" in the kingdom that evening, the Prince solemnly declares
that that he alone will be victorious as he reveals his secret when the sun
soars high in the heavens.

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o Principessa,
Nella tua fredda stanza
Guardi le stelle
Che tremano d'amore
E di speranza.

Ma il mio mistero é chiuso in me,
Il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
Quando la luce splenderà!

Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio
Che ti fa mia!

Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
All'alba vincerò!
Vincerò, vincerò!
Vincerò!
